For most Patriots fans, there has been but one "Voice of the New England Patriots" and it belongs to Gil Santos. For 29 of the last 40 seasons, Santos has articulated the sights, sounds and all the play-by-play action of over 400 games to millions of Patriots fans. Now in his 29th year as the voice of the Patriots, Santos began calling games for the Boston Patriots at Fenway Park in 1966. He was the voice of the Patriots for the next 14 season (1966-1979). He returned to the booth in 1991 and has broadcast every Patriots game since then. The veteran play-by-play broadcaster is also the sports director at WBCN's sister station, WBZ news radio in Boston, where he has earned dozens of honors and awards for his reporting, sportscasting and play-by-play excellence.
